Fantasy Football: Week 12 Waiver Wire and Injury Report

QUARTERBACKS:

Derek Carr (LVR): Carr goes up against the Falcons this week. Surprisingly, Carr has found a groove this season. He’s the QB17 as of now, which is a solid backup quarterback, most weeks. Who knew that he just needed some competent receivers around him for that to happen? He gets one of the best matchups on the board for quarterbacks here in Week 12.

RUNNING BACKS:

Gus Edwards (BAL): Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins were placed on the COVID List, leaving the Ravens rushing duties to QB Lamar Jackson, RB Gus Edwards, and RB Justice Hill. It’s a tough matchup versus PIT, but if you need someone in there, Edwards could be a plug and play.

Justice Hill (BAL): We touched on Hill when writing about Edwards, but Hill is also a fine pickup, given the state of the Ravens’ offense. Do I expect Hill to be a startable option for us? No, I don’t. But, if you have the roster space, add him if Edwards isn’t available.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Russell Gage (ATL): We’ve written up Gage a few times so far this season, and any time the Falcons have a questionable receiver, Gage comes into play. This week, the status of Julio Jones is up in the air against the Raiders. Gage has had inconsistent weeks, as most of the players on the waiver wire have this week, but he’s shown his upside throughout the year in similar situations.

TIGHT ENDS:

Jordan Reed (SF): If Reed was dropped during his bye week, add him back now. He’s the TE to own in San Fran while Kittle is out. This week, he faces the Cowboys who are not a challenge for Reed. The only issue will be, can his QB, Alex Smith, get him the ball?

DEFENSES:

New York Giants (NYG): The New York Football Giants take on Brandon Allen and the Cincinnati Bengals this week on the road. Brandon Allen did not see any action when Burrow went down, it was in fact Ryan Finley. Regardless, it’s a third-string quarterback starting for the Bengals this week, and that’s a good spot to invest in defenses.

Carolina Panthers (CAR): The Vikings are possibly going to be without Adam Thielen this week, due to COVID reasons. If that is the case, Carolina should have no issue slowing down a mediocre Vikings offense, and keeping this game a relatively low scoring contest.

KICKERS:

Jason Sanders (MIA): The Dolphins are in a game where they should have no issue maintaining a lead throughout and winning against the Jets. Sanders should be busy on Sunday.

Matt Prater (DET): Seems like Prater is constantly recommended in this article, though last week, the Lions’ team as a whole really struggled to score, as they put up a goose egg in Carolina. This week, on short rest, they will have their traditional Thanksgiving Day game, and I’m expecting a nice top 12 week from Prater.
