Fantasy Football: Week 10 Waiver Wire and Injury Report

QUARTERBACKS:

Carson Wentz (PHI): Admittedly, Wentz has not been a productive fantasy quarterback for a majority of this season. However, over the last few weeks before his bye, he was starting to come along a little bit. Since Week 6, according to the NFL.com fantasy scoring system, Wentz has scored 29, 28, 10 fantasy points before his bye. Granted, that 10 is a stinker especially against the Cowboys, but he goes into New York this week and faces a Giants team where he put up 29.42 fantasy points just a handful of weeks ago. On top of that, Alshon Jeffery is expected to return this week, giving Wentz an additional weapon at his disposal. The Giants have allowed the third most passing yards to quarterbacks over the last four weeks.

Jared Goff (LAR): The Rams have a divisional matchup this week against a Seahawks team at home. Seattle has been one of the worst defenses in the league this year. Goff, coming off a bye, is going to have a field day in this one. It’ll be up to the Seahawks offense to keep up with him.

RUNNING BACKS:

Duke Johnson (HOU): I’ve never been the biggest Duke Johnson fan for fantasy purposes. To me, he’s basically a game-flow dependent third down pass catching running back. However, with the status of Houston starting RB David Johnson in question, we can turn to Duke for a short-term flex option until David Johnson is back on the field.

Joshua Kelley (LAC): Another RB who benefits from injuries is Joshua Kelley. Justin Jackson injured himself early in Week 9, and Kelley is the next man up with Austin Ekeler also still down. Justin Jackson might be fine for this upcoming week, but if he is in doubt, Joshua Kelley would be a nice flex play.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Darnell Mooney (CHI): We mentioned Mooney a few times last week as a pick-up, and he didn’t destroy our lineups with a 9.3 PPR fantasy point finish. Admittedly, I expected a little more than that, but I can live with 9.3 from a waiver wire option. This week, he remains a solid addition. Minnesota is allowing 38.34 fantasy points per game to receivers this season, which is the second most in the league. Mooney is a nice bye week/injury fill in option for the time being.

David Moore (SEA): Over the last two weeks, in PPR formats, David Moore has scored double digit fantasy points, securing a touchdown each week. Touchdowns as we know are a bit random and tough to predict, but Moore is the number three receiver on a pass-first Seahawks team this season. If either Metcalf or Lockett were to miss any time, Moore would see some of that volume.

TIGHT ENDS:

Austin Hooper (CLE): Hooper is expected to return this week from his abdomen injury. Odell Beckham being out of the equation opens up targets for Hooper. If you can get any sort of production from the tight end spot, you have to do it. Hooper is also in a great spot this week against the Texans, who have allowed the second most fantasy points to tight ends this season. Outside of a handful of players, tight end as a w hole this season has been brutal.

Logan Thomas (WAS): Another tight end in a solid spot for this upcoming week is Logan Thomas. Thomas faces the Detroit Lions, who over the last four weeks have allowed the seventh most fantasy points to tight ends. Thomas himself, ironically, has the seventh most fantasy points per game over the last four weeks. I’ve been burned by Thomas before, but I think he’s in a solid spot.

On the topic of tight ends, to put it in perspective, Travis Kelce scored an average of 16.35 fantasy points over the last four weeks, he is your number one tight end, clearly. The next highest is T.J. Hockenson at 11.38 PPG, and there’s only six active players to average more than10 fantasy points per game at the position. As you can see, clearly tight ends are slacking this year.

DEFENSES:

Minnesota Vikings (@ CHI): Here is a rare circumstance where I am suggesting adding a defense for the next two weeks, if you would like the Vikings play the Bears on Monday night this week. After that, they will face the Cowboys in Minnesota the following week. On paper, these are two great matchups to be invested in.

Detroit Lions (vs. WAS): The Football team suffered another brutal injury at the quarterback position, this time to Kyle Allen. Allen is going to be out a significant amount of time, which leaves the team no other choice but to turn to Alex Smith (or possibly go back to Dwayne Haskins which would be kind of crazy) Either way, the Lions defense has a solid matchup for this upcoming week.

KICKERS:

Jason Myers (SEA): We want kickers either on good offenses, indoors, or have a good weather situation. Well, this week, he’s got at least two of the three. Seattle, one of the top offenses in the league, heads to LA to take on the Rams in a game with a 55.5 total. As of this writing, we are expecting 83-degree temperatures, less than 10 mph winds, and no precipitation in LA this week in what is a great environment for a kicker.

Matt Prater (DET): We just mentioned the state of The Football Team when talking about the Lions defense. Prater is also in a good spot here. This game will be played in a dome, and currently does not have a total or point spread as of this writing. I’m expecting quite a bit of field goals from both sides in this one.
