Fantasy Football: Week 10 Starts/Sits, Injury Report

QUARTERBACKS:

STARTS

Drew Lock (@ LVR): We mentioned Drew Lock as a start last week, and he came through for us in the end after a slow start. This week, we are going right back to him. The Raiders allow 21.5 fantasy points to quarterbacks per game this season, which is the sixth-most in the NFL. The Raiders are also allowing 273.5 passing yards per game this season. Lock has been producing for us lately, and it’s time to keep it going here in Week 10.

Carson Wentz (vs. NYG): I know Wentz has been wildly inconsistent to this point in the year, but he’s been on a tear over the last few weeks before his bye. Not only that, but he also gets a returning Alshon Jeffery back this week who will make his season debut. Outside of a 10.62 fantasy point stinker against the Cowboys, Wentz scored 199.42, 29.42, 28.76 fantasy points over the last month before his bye week. The Giants are the fifth worst DVOA versus the pass this season. From a number’s perspective, that equates to 25.0 passing completions per game, and 282.7 passing yards per game. Sign me up for Wentz in this spot.

SITS

Kirk Cousins (@ CHI): Chicago is allowing the second fewest fantasy points per game this season to quarterbacks. RB Dalvin Cook has been on an incredible run over the last few weeks. Chicago has allowed the eighth fewest passing yards per game, and just 1.1 touchdowns per game to quarterbacks. They are the fourth rated DVOA versus the pass this season. Look elsewhere for your quarterback.

Matthew Stafford (vs. WAS): If you didn’t do any research, you would think Stafford is in a solid spot this week against a below average Football Team. Well, let’s look deeper into this. The number one pass defense in terms of DVOA this season has been the Football Team. In terms of overall DVOA, the they rank sixth. They allow the fewest passing yards per game, and second fewest passing attempts per game as well. Golladay has been ruled out this week, and Hockenson is questionable. I’m not expecting a big Stafford game in this one.

RUNNING BACKS:

STARTS

Nick Chubb (vs. HOU): The Browns have activated Nick Chubb off of the short-term injured reserve and he will be active for this week. The Texans are an outstanding matchup for running backs this season. Houston has the fifth worst DVOA versus the run and allows 144 rushing yards per game to running backs, which is the most in the league by ten yards. They allow the third most rushing touchdowns per game, and third most fantasy points to RBs this season. Chubb might not get a full workload in his return, but he’s in a really good spot to get his rhythm back.

J.D. McKissic (@ DET): The Lions allow the most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Not only that, but they also allow the second-most rushing yards, fourth most receiving yards (important for McKissic) and the most touchdowns to running backs per game. The Lions are the eighth worst DVOA versus the rush this season. While primary Football Team RB Antonio Gibson is in just as great of a spot this week, don’t be surprised if McKissic has a solid game for you as well.

SITS

Darrell Henderson (vs. SEA): Originally, I was going to put Rex Burkhead in this spot, but that felt too easy. Instead, let’s go with Darrell Henderson who faces off against the Seahawks tough run defense. That defense allows just 66.5 rushing yards per game to running backs, less than a touchdown per game (0.75 TD per game) and the fifth fewest receiving yards per game to running backs. Henderson did have a full practice on Friday but was limited throughout the week. I’m expecting a committee situation here this week for the Rams.

Jerick McKinnon (@ NO): This is something I have learned from experience playing fantasy football. Whenever a coach says something, you can’t always believe everything they say. One of the things that was said was McKinnon is ready to have a full workload after being limited the last few weeks. I’m just not buying it. It’s a tough matchup in New Orleans, who allow the second least amount of fantasy points per game. The Saints allow just 69 rushing yards per game to running backs, and McKinnon hasn’t gotten the full share of RB snaps for his own team. I’m not interested in playing McKinnon as anything more than a flex, or an injury fill in, and even that I’d be skeptical.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

STARTS

DeVante Parker (vs. LAC): Preston Williams was placed on injured reserve this past week, leaving Parker and Gesicki as the top two receiving options for the Dolphins. The Chargers defense, on paper is not bad against receivers. However, Parker is going to get tons of volume from here on out, as he did last season. I’m expecting solid top 24 receiver numbers from Parker this week, despite a tough matchup.

Jalen Reagor (vs. NYG): A receiver who does have a great matchup this week is Jalen Reagor versus the Giants. New York allows the tenth most fantasy points per game to receivers (25.7) sixth most receptions, and eighth most receiving yards to receivers this year. Alshon Jeffery is expected to return this week, but he might not have a full compliment of snaps after missing so much time. I’ll go with Reagor in a solid spot here.

SITS

Marquise Brown (@ NE): Marquise Brown has been struggling over the last few weeks for fantasy production, and it does not get any easier against Stephon Gilmore and the Patriots defense this week. The Patriots allow the fourth fewest receptions to receivers, and Brown hasn’t been consistent all year. Maybe he will get going in a different matchup, but I just don’t see it happening here.

Jakobi Meyers (vs. BAL): The Ravens are one of the top pass defenses in the league with their great cornerbacks. Meyers had his breakout game last week versus the Jets, and if you didn’t play him, you probably missed the best performance of his career. Don’t chase points this week if you can avoid it. The Ravens defense is the seventh best against the pass in terms of DVOA, allow the 11th fewest receiving yards per game to receivers, and the fourth fewest fantasy points to receivers. I don’t expect a repeat from Meyers this week.

TIGHT ENDS:

STARTS

Eric Ebron (vs. CIN): This week, Ebron faces a Bengals team that allows the second most fantasy points to tight ends (11.8), fifth most receptions per game to tight ends, and the third most touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Jordan Reed (vs. NO): Jordan Reed gets a solid matchup this week against the Saints. The Saints allow 9.7 fantasy points to tight ends per game, 5.25 receptions, and are tied for the third most touchdown receptions allowed to tight ends with 6. Reed is no guarantee to stay on the field all week, but when he is out there, he’s got a solid matchup.

SITS:

Tyler Higbee (vs SEA): Normally, Higbee is a solid start every week. However, I’m a bit concerned about the matchup. Seattle allows the fewest receptions per game to tight ends, and the third fewest targets per game to tight ends this season. It’s a tight end by committee situation for the Rams, so on top of that limited production, there will be limited snaps for Higbee and Everett, as per usual. I’d rather target Kupp and Woods in this matchup if possible.

Robert Tonyan (vs. JAC): There’s two reasons why I think Tonyan is a sit this week. The first, is it’s blocking tight end Marcedes Lewis revenge game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get some extra work as a receiver this week. Not enough to play Lewis in fantasy, but enough to limit Tonyan’s upside. That, plus the fact that Aaron Jones and DaVante Adams are in great spots, I’m not expecting Tonyan to be a primary read for Rodgers this week. It’s a great matchup on paper for Tonyan, but I’d rather look elsewhere if I can.

DEFENSES:

STARTS

Detroit Lions (vs. WAS): Alex Smith has been a remarkable comeback story to this point, but in terms of actual on the field play, we want to target defenses against him and this Football Team’s offense. Smith has very little to no mobility, few receiving threats outside of McLaurin, and the Lions are favorites in this game which has a low 46.0 total. Start the Lions for sure.

Minnesota Vikings (@ CHI): Nick Foles is starting for the Bears this week. The Bears are expected to without David Montgomery. This game has a low 43.5 total, and the Vikings are three-point favorites. Great spot for a defense.

SITS

Los Angeles Rams (vs. SEA): Finding defenses to sit are really simple. Locate the best offenses in the league or the highest totals of the week and sit defenses in those games. That’s the case here with the Rams. They face Seattle in a game with a total over 54. I’d much rather play defenses against teams who don’t score tons of points, or who have terrible offensive lines.

Buffalo Bills (@ ARI): I’m expecting this Bills versus Cardinals game to also be a high scoring contest. I know the Bills have been solid all year for fantasy, but I’m expecting Murray and company to have a great game this week against the Bills.

KICKERS:

STARTS

Kai Forbath (vs. SEA): The Rams kicker is now Forbath, who is in a great spot versus the Seahawks. Any time we get kickers in a divisional game and a high total, it’s something to look into. I’m expecting a competitive, high scoring game in LA this week, so I’ll start the kicker for the Rams. Seattle’s kicker, Jason Myers, is also in a good spot as well.

Jason Sanders (vs. LAC): This week, the Dolphins head home for a matchup against the Chargers. The Chargers have been in tons of close games lately and come out on the wrong side of them. I’m expecting another close one here and with the total approaching 50, it’s a good spot for a kicker.

SITS

Dustin Hopkins (@ DET): This is a simple call for me here. I’d rather not play a kicker for a team that is going to struggle on offense this week.

Joey Slye (@ TB): In theory, Slye is a actually in a decent spot for fantasy. However, I’d rather look elsewhere for two reasons. One, the game will be played in Carolina, there is a little bit of wind and precipitation expected there on Sunday. I also don’t expect a competitive game here.
